The 23rd China Mining Conference and Exhibition in 2021 attracted nearly 400 representatives from domestic and international natural resource authorities (bureaus), enterprises, financial institutions, and industry associations to its opening ceremony. With the theme “Multilateral Cooperation— for Development and Prosperity of Post-Pandemic Era”, the conference organized a theme forum and 20 thematic forums, covering five core components: the opening ceremony, forums, exhibitions, “Country Promotion” sessions and important activities, all of which are synchronized live online through the “China Mining Conference and Exhibition Cloud Platform” (hereinafter referred to as the “Cloud Platform”). The “Country Promotion” initiative stood out as a highlight, with mining ministers, ambassadors, and officials from 10 countries (including Argentina, Greece, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uruguay, and Zambia) presenting their nations’ mineral resources, investment policies, and cultural environments via the Cloud Platform. The hybrid format combined an on-site exhibition (30,000 square meters with 230 participating organizations and 280 booths) and online synchronization, showcasing the full mining industry chain: mining technology and equipment, metallurgy, project development, geological surveys, exploration, and financial and third-party services. Notably, the machinery and equipment exhibition area emerged as a focal point, featuring cutting-edge technologies in mining, processing, and drilling that set new industry benchmarks and injected vitality into global mining manufacturing. Five countries—Zambia, Argentina, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uruguay—established national pavilions, while exhibitors leveraged the Cloud Platform to dynamically display innovations, international collaborations, and project promotions. The platform also enabled 24/7 real-time negotiations, accelerating cross-border industrial cooperation. Key agreements included: China Minmetals Corporation and the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Argentina reached a cooperation intention; Shandong Chunze Huahan Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Uruguay's Ministry of Mines; XCMG, Nanchang Mineral Systems, and other exhibitors reached intent orders; eight enterprises, including Western Mining and CRRC Zhuzhou, held dedicated project and technology showcase presentations, providing more efficient and favorable conditions for communication and collaboration between investors and mining rights holders. After the conference, 38 media including CCTV, Guangming Daily, Xinhua Net, China Natural Resources News, China Mining News and more than 130 journalists highlighted the conference’s global impact from diverse perspectives.
