In order to promote the foreign exchanges and cooperation in the field of mining in China, the former Ministry of Land and Resources began to organize the China Mining International Symposium in 1999, which was officially renamed as the China Mining Conference and Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as “China Mining”) in 2005. China Mining is known as one of the four major mining events in the world, together with the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (abbreviated as PDAC), Investing in African Mining Indaba (abbreviated as MINING INDABA) and Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum in Australian (abbreviated as DIGGERS AND DEALERS).

From 1999 to 2012, China Mining Association (hereinafter referred to as “the CMA”) has actively participated in and utilized the platform of China Mining to carry out foreign exchanges and cooperation. Since 2012, the CMA has become one of the organizers, co-hosting the conference with the former Ministry of Land and Resources and Tianjin Municipal People's Government. In accordance with the spirit of the “Letter from the Ministry of Land and Resources and Tianjin Municipal People's Government on the Reform and Transformation of China Mining Conference and Exhibition”, the Ministry of Natural Resources (formerly the Ministry of Land and Resources) and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government ceased hosting the China Mining in 2018. Since then, the event has been exclusively hosted by the CMA. Since its inception in 1999, the conference has been held 26 times and has been highly recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources (formerly the Ministry of Land and Resources) and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.
